About Us
Welcome to Apnups
Aliba Parents Nursery and Primary School is an early childhood and primary education initiative by the community of Aliba and the surrounding villages since 2014. The community established the school owing to the challenges faced by their children as a result of the long distances to the existing primary schools and difficulties of coping up with early learning years in primary. The school is located in Foria village, Rigbo Sub County, Arua District in North Western Uganda.
Aliba Parents Nursery and Primary School is a proud community school which strives to provide high quality education where every child matters and is a valued member of the school community; Teachers are caring and are strongly committed to providing an environment where all children have the opportunity to learn to a high level. Staffs continually seek to improve their teaching skills and enhance the social and academic learning of each child in their classroom. “We have a whole-school approach to literacy and numeracy coupled with explicit teaching and learning programs aimed at the school producing outstanding outcomes for our learners. Thus our School staff work collaboratively, embrace change and are dedicated to improving student outcomes.”
APNUPS promotes initiatives linked to the Schools Strategic Development Plan for 2017-2021, and to achieve the commitments herein the School has a self-assessment process which is systematic, continuous and comprehensive; focusing on pupils’ performance and progress.
OUR SCHOOL VISION!
To be a model of excellence in provision of basic education in rural areas
OUR SCHOOL VALUES!
Excellence: APNUPS considers excellence in the performance of school going children as an important aspect in achieving quality education.
Team work: We believe that achieving set targets of APNUPS can only be through concerted efforts of committed team members who should contribute generously to the education Agenda where everyone’s contribution counts.
People centeredness: APNUPS believes in the power of the people. Establishing networks and partnerships will always propel development further than individual efforts.
Innovation: APNUPS encourages and treasures innovation especially in providing quality learning to our pupils.
God fearing: We believe that wisdom comes from God. To achieve every plan successfully, there is always need to invoke God’s blessings and guidance first. So we strive to nurture children with the fear of God.
With the ethos highlighted above it is our believe that consistent improvement in pupils performance is much more likely if our school and the surrounding communities set out to follow our organized, focused, inclusive, and pupil centered way to plan to improve is considered and implemented.
In our school community we are friendly, professional and treat all in our community with courtesy. We acknowledge everyone’s unique strengths and value diversity. We work together to create and maintain a positive culture. Relationships matter. We build and nurture strong, positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff and the wider community. We help each other to make informed decisions and take action. We talk to each other and share information and knowledge. We use feedback to improve our performance. We work together to share and collaborate to continuously improve what we do.

The Nursery :
We believe that in school, the road to college and higher education starts in Nursery. Stepping through the gates of our remarkable school, you will instantly feel the calm of a secure space, the cheerfulness of a family atmosphere and the vibrancy of a truly inspiring learning environment.
The Nursery school at APNUPS refers to an early childhood educational class for ages 3-6 (Baby, Middle and Upper classes).
You have many reasons to choose us;
* In the Nursery school, we expose our pupils to numbers, letter, shapes and colors.
* Our pupils learn to socialize (get along with their peers).
* They are taught how to raise hands, take turns and share the teacher’s attention to make for an easier transition into the Primary levels.
* They learn how to compromise, be respectful of others, explore, play with their peers and build confidence.
* They learn to be imaginative, gain a sense of self, to be a creative, well-rounded person.
* Our classrooms are adequately equipped (visual and non-visual) to suit the age of each child with tutor to pupil of ratio 1 to 40.

THE LEARNING CHARACTER WE BUILD IN OUR PUPILS!
At APNUPS, we believe it is important that we explicitly teach pupils to be effective learners. We agree that to be a successful Pupil we must develop effective learning character. We want our Pupils to embody six key learning characters during their learning.
By developing these characters our children will know where they are in their learning, where they are going, how to get there and if they have been successful. We want learning to be visible. That is why we develop a robust and collaborative process of annual self-assessment for our teaching staff that uses evidence related directly to the strategic improvement targets.
We strive to nurture Pupils with the following values:
* Confidence in their own ability
* Excellence in everything they do
* Responsibility to themselves and others
When our Pupils develop these values, then they can own the process of learning, become creative, cooperative, persevering in taking risks and becoming resilient in life as they learn.
